Building a 4x4 slot layout - Phase 3 |
28th Feb. 2010
|
Again managed to find some time to work on it and have managed to lay out most of the track, I'm not 100% happy with how it;s looking, but I plan to finish this off and see what it looks like when the Land Rovers can eventually drive round the whole course.
I decided to add some original STS track straights, and managed to connect up an old Scalextric power base for power, this works very well, need to work out how to connect the proper track to the 'home made' track, see below for pics and more details.
Other Phases:
Phase 1
Phase 3

More pics of the 'Home Made' track, as already mentioned, I've cut the slots for the River section, but this took quite a while, I plan to 'route' the other track sections (Once I get hold of one!). perhaps using a 'Dremmel' type tool:

The little hills section, worried that the initial slope could be too steep and the track not wide enough for two slots!

|
Here are some of the Land Rovers to give scale, I hope I can 'route' two slots on this section?
As you can see, loads of glue around, I glued the layers of 'lino' together

|
More Pics of the River section, you can see that there won't be any overtaking here!
|
Some final pictures, the first shows the STS track straights, with wood alongside, I plan to eventually make a stone wall out of the wood, but this is to give you scale:

And finally, I may run a wall along the river, so some idea of what this may look like

More pics to come, when I find time to work on it again! |
